Proving and Disproving Psychiatric Injuries Psychiatric injuries are one of the most common forms of injury or disability claimed and often give rise to much controversy in employment and personal injury litigation. This webinar provides a guide to help those trying to prove such injuries/disabilities as well as also showing how such assertions may be challenged.

Yvette Genn Yvette Genn is a barrister at Cloisters. She specialises in employment law and disability discrimination claims, and has substantial experience litigating claims where the extent of psychiatric injuries is a key issue. Dr Peter Ellis Dr Peter Ellis is a barrister at 7 Bedford Row specialising in clinical negligence and personal injury, including product liability. He is also in demand for his expertise in relation to coroners' inquests and related fatal accident litigation. He acts for both claimants and defendants. He practised as a hospital doctor and as a solicitor specialising in product liability and healthcare law, before transferring to the Bar. He is a practising mediator and an Assistant Deputy Coroner in London. He is the author and assistant editor of a number of leading medico-legal textbooks. He is a regular chairman and speaker at medico-legal conferences, for both lawyers and healthcare professionals. He is ranked as a leading junior in clinical negligence and healthcare law at the London Bar in The Legal 500. Dr David Gill Dr David Gill, Consultant Psychiatrist, has a growing medico-legal practice, currently seeing 10 - 20 cases per month across the range of adult mental health. However, he continues as an NHS Consultant, as he considers it essential for experts to remain in daily touch with clinical work.
He sees personal injury and clinical negligence cases for claimant, defendant and jointly. Notable cases have included the Human Growth Hormone/ Creutzfeldt-Jacob action.
He sees criminal cases for both defence and CPS, and has undertaken a number of Employment Tribunal and Disability Discrimination Act cases.
He has a particular interest in disability assessment, and carries out independent medical examinations for several major income protection/permanent health insurers and reinsurers.
He enjoys teaching, and regularly speaks to audiences of legal and insurance professionals as part of their programmes of continuous Professional Development.
He is dually accredited in General Psychiatry and Liaison Psychiatry.
